đ¯ What is Yeardle?
Yeardle is the daily history guessing game from histordle.com. Each day the puzzle drops three historical events â usually something famous, something obscure, and something in between â and asks you to guess the year all three events occurred.
The format is closer to a history-trivia Wordle than to a chronological puzzle. Each guess reveals how close you are to the target year with color-coded feedback, and the goal is to triangulate the right year within eight attempts. The events span millennia â from ancient civilizations to recent history â so the puzzle rewards breadth as much as depth.
đĄ How to Play Yeardle
- Open histordle.com/yeardle to see today's three historical events and the prompt to guess the year they all occurred.
- Read the three events carefully. Look for time-specific clues (a ruler's reign, a war's duration, an invention's date) to anchor your guess.
- Type a four-digit year into the input. Yeardle accepts any year, including BC dates with a minus sign.
- Submit your guess. The site tells you how close you are with a color-coded feedback box â green means very close, yellow means somewhat close, gray means far.
- Use the feedback to triangulate. Each guess narrows the possible year range; two or three well-chosen guesses usually land within a decade of the answer.
- Solve within 8 tries and a shareable emoji grid appears. The site also runs PopCultured (pop culture history), Songle (music history), and Moviedle (movie history) daily puzzles, plus an Unlimited Yeardle mode for practice.
