Pedantle
đ¯ What is Pedantle?
Pedantle is the daily Wikipedia page-revealing game from pedantle.certitudes.org, the spiritual cousin of Redactle. Each day the puzzle hides the title of a real Wikipedia page behind a vector of word frequencies, and your job is to guess words that are likely to appear on the page.
The mechanic is a frequency heat-map: each guess shows up as a colored square based on how often it appears near the mystery page's words in Google's word2vec embedding. Higher and warmer means a closer semantic match, lower and cooler means further away. The goal is to land on words that are semantically related to the article's subject, then use the article preview (which unlocks after a few strong guesses) to name the page.
đĄ How to Play Pedantle
- Open pedantle.certitudes.org to see today's empty heat-map and the daily countdown.
- Type a word into the guess box. The site accepts single English words.
- Submit to lock in your guess. The word appears as a colored square on the heat-map â red and high means a strong semantic match to the mystery page, blue and low means a weak match.
- Use the heat-map to triangulate. A cluster of high red guesses usually means you're in the right semantic neighborhood.
- After several strong guesses, the article preview unlocks. Read it for the same clues you'd use in Redactle: visible function words, sentence patterns, and article structure.
- Type the page title (or any phrase from the article that the puzzle accepts) to win. The site tracks your daily score based on the strength of your early guesses.
đ Tips for Playing
- Start with a broad guess to gather as much information as possible
- Pay attention to every piece of feedback â even small details matter
- Think about what's unique or distinctive about the clues you've received
- Practice daily to build your pattern recognition skills
- Share your results with friends to compare strategies
