đ¯ What is WhenTaken?
WhenTaken is the daily photo-decade guessing game from whentaken.com, built by Teuteuf Games (the studio behind Worldle, Globle, and Travle). Each day the puzzle drops a real photograph â usually a slice of everyday life from decades past â and asks you to guess both where it was taken and roughly when.
The format combines GeoGuessr's map-pin mechanic with a year slider. You place a pin on the world map, choose a year, and submit. The site reveals the true location and year and scores your guess based on both. The goal is to get both as close as possible.
đĄ How to Play WhenTaken
- Open whentaken.com to see today's photograph and the daily countdown.
- Study the photo. Fashion, vehicles, architecture, technology, and signage are the main era and location tells.
- Click anywhere on the world map to drop your location pin. Drag the year slider or type a year into the input for your time guess.
- Press Guess to submit. WhenTaken reveals the true location and year and awards points based on how close both were.
- Use the on-screen hints if you're stuck. The site shows you the community's guesses and a few hints about the era.
- Share your score and guess breakdown. A new photo drops at the daily reset and the archive keeps the past few weeks.
